How to reset a Baxi Boiler

When Baxi Boiler troubleshooting, you may find that your boiler needs to be reset. Read on to find out how to reset your boiler, whether it has a dedicated rest button, an ON/OFF/SELECTOR switch or a thermostat control knob.

If you are troubleshooting a Baxi boiler with a dedicated reset button:

  • In certain circumstances, your boiler may lock out. This is identified by the Red Lockout light constantly illuminated or flashing.
  • To reset the boiler, simply press the reset button until the red light goes away.
  • If your timer is calling for heat, the burner light will come on to indicate the boiler has fired up and is heating your system.
  • If lockout occurs frequently a fault is indicated and you should contact your installer or service engineer.

If you are troubleshooting a Baxi boiler that uses a boiler thermostat control knob to reset:

  • In certain circumstances, your boiler may lock out. This is identified by the Red Lockout light on or flashing.
  • To reset the boiler, turn the temperature control knob fully anticlockwise.
  • Hold until the red lockout light goes out, then turn the control knob back to the desired setting.
  • If your timer is calling for heat, the burner light will come on to indicate the boiler has fired up and is heating your system.
  • If lockout occurs frequently a fault is indicated and you should contact your installer or service engineer.

If you are troubleshooting a Baxi boiler that uses an ON/OFF/SELECTOR switch to reset:

  • Open the pull down panel to reveal the control.
  • If a fault occurs on your boiler, an error message or light (depending on your boiler model) may be shown on the fascia display. In the example shown, E133 is indicating a problem with either the gas supply, ignition/flame or a blocked condensate.
  • If your boiler uses a series of neon indicator lights (instead of an LED display) a lockout is shown through the flame failure light. On the 10-Neon display, the flame failure is the top left light.
  • The process of resetting your boiler is the same regardless of the fascia display.
  • To reset the boiler, turn the selector switch to the R (Reset) position. Hold for at least 5 seconds and release.
  • The fault code will be replaced with the boiler's current temperature.
  • At this point on a neon indicator boiler model, the flame failure light will stop flashing and will be replaced with the burner light.
  • After a few seconds, the burner (orange) light will illuminate, showing that the burner has fired. The temperature should now begin to rise.
  • If lockout occurs frequently a fault is indicated and you should contact your installer or service engineer.
