As a Baxi Service Engineering Apprentice you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced heating engineers in the field and study for your Gas
Engineering Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard at college. And that’s just the start. However far you to go, we’ll be behind you every step of the way.
Our commitment to you
We offer a full and comprehensive training and support package that includes:
1. Training and Education: You'll study for your Gas Engineering Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard at a technical training college.
2. Hands-On Experience: You'll work alongside experienced heating engineers, gaining practical skills in the field
3. Support and Mentorship: You’ll be assigned an experienced mentor to guide and support you throughout your Apprenticeship.

Chris’s story
What was your Apprenticeship in?
Initially I had a plumbing level 2 Apprenticeship and did an underfloor heating course as part of this. After doing this I went on to get my gas qualifications.
How old were you during your Apprenticeship?
16
What is your role now?
I was a Service Engineer at Baxi for 7 years and then in 2022 I became a Field Team Manager. In this role I managed a team of up to 29 Service Engineers which has included up to 5 Apprentices - it’s been a pleasure to see my team grow and develop their skills to become excellent heating engineers.
What made you choose an Apprenticeship over main stream education?
I went to college initially to do a sports course but realised that his way of learning was linked more to hands on role where I could earn and learn at the same time.
How do you see your career progressing from here?
As the business grows, I’m keen to also develop as a manager within the business. I enjoy seeing my team grow and develop and take time to reflect on their progress.
Have you completed any further education course after your Apprenticeship?
I have done a range of training courses whilst at Baxi covering all aspects of my job including gas safety and management.

What is your role now?
I’m the Northern Operations Manager at Baxi, manging a team of 7 Team Managers and 140 engineers.
What made you choose an Apprenticeship over main stream education?
I did 1 week’s work experience with a P&H company and they said that if I ever wanted an Apprenticeship then they’d have an opportunity for me.
How do you see your career progressing from here?
I have been the Northern Operations Manager for 2.5 yrs now and am keen to keep developing in this role, supporting my experienced engineers and the engineers of the future.
Have you completed any further education course after your Apprenticeship?
Through Baxi I have completed range of different course related to both engineering and management, which have helped me to become a strong manager.
What you’ll need to apply
We are looking for ambitious and committed people who are passionate about developing their career within the heating industry.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold or be working towards Level 2 Functional skills/GCSE grade 4 or
above in Maths, English and Science - Be self-motivated to succeed in the apprenticeship with a real willingness to learn and a curious mind
- We accept applications from all over the country; however you must be willing to travel to Birmingham and other locations for a minimum of 20 weeks over a 2-year period
