Let us take care of MCS compliance, so that you can focus on installing ASHPs.
Whether you’re new to ASHPs, and starting your MCS journey, or an experienced heat pump installer looking for extra support, we’re here to help you every step of the way.

With our MCS Umbrella Scheme, you can focus on growing your business whilst we look after the admin. Our scheme includes two on-site visits – one for the initial site survey and one for commissioning. You will continue to be backed by our experts, with technical support available when you need it, and feel confident that your installation meets the highest standards.
Our training courses provide focused, hands-on development to boost your capabilities and approach ASHPs with greater confidence. Combine this with short YouTube videos and flexible e-learning modules that fit neatly around your working day.
We take care of the MCS process, so that you can focus on installations with full compliance and confidence. Learn how our service supports you at every stage of your ASHP project.
An MCS Umbrella scheme allows you as an installer to carry out heat pump installations and access grants for your homeowners without the need to be MCS certified yourself.
By going through an MCS Umbrella Scheme, you can focus on the installation, knowing that the design, compliance, and administration parts have all been taken care of. At Baxi, we’re here to make the process simple and successful.
Becoming MCS certified can be hard to justify for many heating and hot water engineers due to the amount of additional paperwork, time and cost involved.
By working through the Baxi MCS Umbrella Scheme, you're in a great position to widen your offering and win more work by taking on projects that require MCS certification.
You can help eligible customers access grants and incentives such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), offering them the £7,500 deduction upfront to help them with the costs associated with investing in low carbon technology.
The Government has set a target of 600,000 installations per year by 2028. To support this, grants such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) have been implemented. This is a £7,500 grant which aims to reduce the cost of a heat pump installation for eligible property owners.
MCS contractors are responsible for applying for and redeeming the BUS grant through Ofgem and with support in this form set to end in 2028, Baxi's MCS Umbrella scheme means there are plenty of opportunities for you to take advantage of.
We’re here to help you make the most of these opportunities, and the overall transition to heat pumps, without the burden of admin, cost, or compliance concerns.
Baxi's MCS Umbrella Scheme offers hands on support every step of the way. We complete a quick, free estimation, followed by a visit to site to carry out a room by room heat loss calculation, taking care of the design and providing a tailored installation pack. Meanwhile, you have full control of your pricing and once the system is installed, Baxi will then complete a second site visit to commission in readiness for handover.
Throughout these key stages, our team will progress with all of the necessary paperwork to ensure full compliance. Ultimately, we aim to remove the complexities associated with heat pump installations, allowing you to focus on what you're good at.
Baxi installers undergo a comprehensive onboarding to ensure best practice across our operations. We provide a range of training courses for installers at all levels, so you can be sure that you’ll have all the knowledge you need to fit our heat pumps across the country, using our MCS Umbrella Scheme to help your customers to benefit from incentives such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).
Air source heat pumps can be maintained either by you as the installer or by the maintenance plans that we offer here at Baxi after the installation is completed. This can be discussed at enquiry stage.

We’re proud to have a range of training courses for air source heat pump installations. Taking place at our training centres across the country, our courses cover everything from understanding the basics of an air source heat pump, to exploring best practices for a safe installation. You do not need to be Gas Safe registered to install air source heat pumps, however you will need to consider that in almost all cases boilers will be removed in place of the heat pump which will require Gas Safe certification.
If you wish to access grants you would need to be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). By utilsing the Baxi Umbrella MCS Scheme, you can focus on growing your business and installing whilst we look after the admin and compliance.
Monobloc style air source heat pumps contain a hermetically sealed refrigeration circuit and do not require F-Gas certification to install. Split style air source heat pumps share or split the refrigerant circuit between the indoor and outdoor units, the pipework between these units must be connected by an F-Gas certified engineer.
To install and service a monobloc and split air source heat pump, you will need to have a strong knowledge of plumbing and heating. It is advisable to hold the industry approved NVQ Level 3 in air source heat pump installation.
From a maintenance perspective, a competent person could replace sensors, PCBs, hydraulic products, casings and the fan. You would need F-Gas certification to work on the refrigerant components.
