Air source heat pump challenges in freezing weather

Though air source heat pumps are designed to work well in all weather conditions, it’s worth mentioning that you might notice some changes in the way it operates. As we mentioned earlier, your defrost cycle is designed to begin automatically. When this happens, you might notice that it sounds louder for a brief period but this is completely normal.

If, however, you notice that the cycle is happening more frequently or noise persists, then it may be worth having a technician check if there is an issue within the system.

An air source heat pump will still work well during colder weather, but there may be times when it needs to work harder due to less warmth in the air. If you notice this happening more often, then get in touch with your installer to check for any issues.
